Date: 10/04/15 Project Name: Non-contact Tissue Viability Diagnostic Device Group Number: 31 Group Members: Xinzi Wang, Zhijie Qi, Yoga Shentu Current status of project: This week we filtered existing solutions and narrowed down our final solutions to 2 possible methods: Laser Doppler Imaging and Optical Sensing for Hemoglobin-based Oxygen Saturation. We discussed the pros and cons of the 2 methods. We also started creating the webpage for our project: cellvitalitydiagnosis.weebly.com Work planned for next week: We will meet with our client to discuss the 2 methods in detail, including general strategy, needed materials, and possible difficulties in building the device. We will also continue working on the project webpage. Anything needed from client or TA or instructor to continue work: Meet with client to discuss the 2 methods selected. Date: 9/7/15
Project Name: Non-contact Tissue Viability Diagnostic Device Group Number: Group Members: Xinzi Wang, Zhijie Qi, Yoga Shentu Current status of project: This week we formed the group and decided to work on tissue viability diagnostic method, as proposed by Mr. Bard Clay. We contacted the client on 9/4/15 and he explained the project: a device that can monitor cell viability for proper vascularization after reattachment. As a group, we collected some papers related to cell viability diagnosis. We are in the progress for brain-storming and literature review. Work planned for next week: Next week the group will continue on literature review and make a decision on how to approach the problem, and which parameter we will be monitoring as an indicator for cell vitality. We will discuss different methods utilized by labs and review products currently on market with similar purpose. The group will spend the next week doing literature search and will report their progress next Sunday. Anything needed from client or TA or instructor to continue work: To be assigned an instructor Get in contact with faculty member who had experience in tissue viability/ tissue culturing. Date: 9/13/15
Project Name: Non-contact Tissue Viability Diagnostic Device Group Number: 31 Group Members: Xinzi Wang, Zhijie Qi, Yoga Shentu Current status of project: This week we reviewed publication and submitted the scope for the project. We had a group meeting and agreed on that the product will be a hand-held non-invasive device that can monitor real time tissue viability. We also agreed to accompany the device with a software that can output "heat map" for tissue viability. Work planned for next week: Next week the group will split the work and speed up the design process. Xinzi will be comparing parameters that indicate tissue viability (oxygen level, NADH level, etc.). Zhijie will contact with the client to finalize prototype specification and cost. Yoga will start looking into current products on market and possible components (diode probe, LED light). The group will be communicating throughout the week to update progress. Anything needed from client or TA or instructor to continue work: Get in contact with faculty member who had experience in tissue viability/ tissue culturing, talk to Dr. Yin. Date: 9/20/15
Project Name: Non-contact Tissue Viability Diagnostic Device Group Number: 31 Group Members: Xinzi Wang, Zhijie Qi, Yoga Shentu Current status of project: This week we revised the scope for the project and reviewed the existing solutions of the project. We made a design schedule, discussed information collected from team members, and began working on the preliminary report. The existing methods for assessing tissue viability are listed below: Transcutaneous gas monitoring Transepidermal water loss Thermal sensing Oxygen sensing Laser Doppler flowmetry Work planned for next week: Next week the group will continue working on the report. Xinzi will be responsible for the existing solutions and the scope of the project. Zhijie will finalize prototype specification and cost with the client. Yoga will write about project background, need, and group responsibility, and also revise the paper in terms of appearance, format, and organization. Anything needed from client or TA or instructor to continue work: Meet with TA to practice for the presentation. Date: 9/27/15
Project Name: Non-‐contact Tissue Viability Diagnostic Device Group Number: 31 Group Members: Xinzi Wang, Zhijie Qi, Yoga Shentu Current status of project: This week Zhijie met with the client and finalized the design requirements. Xinzi continued literature search on existing solutions. Yoga looked at current patents related to our project. All group members reviewed the information collected and composed the preliminary written report for the project. We also discussed the strength of each person. Work planned for next week: Next week Yoga will do the preliminary oral presentation of our project on Monday 9/28/15. Xinzi and Zhijie will help her prepare and she will meet with TA over the weekend to practice the presentation and get feedbacks. After the presentation, the group will meet and start filtering existing solutions. We will also start creating the webpage for our project. Anything needed from client or TA or instructor to continue work: Meet with TA to practice for the presentation. |
